Mopti, March 12 (AMAP) The traditional citizens’ day around the national flag instituted by the regional authorities of Mopti under the leadership of the regional governor, Colonel-Major Abass Dembélé, shone brightly again on Friday, March 8, a memorable day dedicated to women around the world. It was the regional office of the National Employment Promotion Agency (ANPE) that was honored to host this 34th edition, as observed by AMAP.

The ceremony was presided over by the Governor of the region, Colonel-Major Abass Dembélé, in the presence of regional service chiefs, dignitaries, representatives of civil society organizations, and a strong delegation from the ANPE headquarters, led by the secretary general of its union committee, Adama Ouattara.

According to the organizers, the organization of the 34th edition of citizens’ days around the national flag on the memorable date of March 8, International Women’s Day, which offers the opportunity to celebrate women in all their dimensions, and the choice of ANPE to host it was no coincidence. It is a grand expression of the region’s authorities to pay tribute to a local development icon, a fighter Mrs. Diarra Hadja Niamé Mariam FOFANA, regional director of ANPE in Mopti, and through all the women in the world.

An expert in local development engineering, Mrs. Diarra is an inspiring woman with an exceptional career path, a representative example of the power of equal opportunities in Mali. Her successful professional career and her interest in associative life, which has made her responsible for several women’s associations including ‘the framework for consultation and actions of women leaders in Mali’, have earned her several distinctions, including being the 2022 barometer laureate in the Barometer category, an instrument of citizen vigilance initiated by the Youth Entrepreneurs Organization (OJEP) to highlight development actions; the shea butter promoter trophy at the 8th Women’s Entrepreneurship Day in Burkina Faso, and a letter of satisfaction and recognition from the ANPE headquarters for the service rendered.

The event featured historical reminders of the national flag, the hoisting of colors by the pioneers, accompanied by the national anthem, a musical interlude by the band (la noumba), the speech of the ANPE director about her organization, testimonials from the union, the Governor’s intervention, a tour of the premises and the exhibition stands of ANPE products.

The regional executive chief, Colonel-Major Abass Dembélé, took the opportunity to salute the bravery of women for the important role they play in maintaining social balance.

The torch for the 35th edition was handed over by the Governor to the regional director of hydraulics, who will host the event next month.
