Dmark Power faced a tough challenge during their victory over the Kampala Rockets, as Philip Ameny had to continue playing through pain after sustaining an injury during the game. Despite his discomfort, the Kenyan player persevered and contributed significantly to his team’s win, finishing with 13 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in 32 minutes. Due to a lack of depth on the bench, Ameny is one of the players required to log heavy minutes for the five-time champions.

The team’s head coach, Timothy Odeke, acknowledged the roster limitations and expressed the need to strengthen the squad, especially after losing key players at the end of the previous season. Odeke highlighted the departures of Elvis Mpeti, Ozias Kikomba, Mobanza Ndiga, and Stephen Otoa as significant blows to the team’s rotation. While Ameny’s arrival was a positive addition, the departures of important players left Power with limited options.

Salimu Kisilu and Mpeti were expected to provide depth in the frontcourt but their transfers fell through, with Kisilu now playing in Kenya and Mpeti suiting up for the Kigali Titans in Rwanda. Currently, Ameny, Isaac Afidra, Sammad Imran, Elvis Mutebi, and Elvis Ssentongo are shouldering much of the load for Power, with little support coming from the bench. The team’s substitutes, Reagan Lemaniku, Christopher Adoghe, and Yat Tiem Ruot Tut, are still trying to prove themselves at the top level.

Despite the challenges with roster depth, Odeke remains optimistic about the team’s potential. He acknowledges the mix of experience and youth in the squad, with seasoned veterans like Afidra and Ameny leading a group of less-experienced players. With a thin bench and a rotation of only eight players, Odeke emphasizes the importance of developing the team’s depth and performance in the upcoming matches.

Currently sitting at the bottom of the league standings with a 2-2 record, Power faces an uphill battle to climb the ranks and secure more victories. Their next challenge comes against the JT Jaguars, where they will look to build on their recent success and continue their quest for success in the season. As they strive to overcome their roster limitations and build a stronger team dynamic, Power remains determined to improve and compete at the highest level in the league.
