The 2024 edition of the Daniel Ogechi Akujobi Memorial (DOAM) Foundation Golf Tournament recently concluded in Lagos, with Tony Oboh emerging as the overall champion. The tournament, held at the Golf Section of Ikoyi Club 1938, saw Oboh, a 13-handicapper, display exceptional skill and determination to return a remarkable 67 Nett score and claim the coveted title. Uwem Udoh, an eight-handicapper, secured the second position with a commendable 70 Nett score, while Tunde Fashakin, a 12-handicapper, clinched third place on count-back.
In the Ladies category, Candy Agu showcased her prowess on the course, carding a 74 Nett score to claim the top spot, with Pauline Onafowokan and Nomwen Emeghalu taking second and third places, respectively. Oboh’s victory not only earned him the winner’s trophy but also a 540-litre Double-Door Thermocool Giant Fridge as a prize.
Expressing his gratitude for the win, Oboh commented on his consistent support for the Foundation and its impactful work in aiding the less privileged in society, especially during challenging times in the country. He commended the organizers for maintaining the high standards of the tournament and using funds judiciously for charitable endeavors, positively impacting the lives of those in need.
Other winners of the tournament included Joachim Afe, who secured the Men’s Gross title with a remarkable 76 Gross score, and Jerome Bello, who emerged victorious in the Veteran category with a score of 70 Nett. All winners were awarded trophies and prizes in recognition of their outstanding performances.
The 13th DOAMF Charity Golf Tournament not only highlighted the talent and sportsmanship of its participants but also showcased the spirit of philanthropy and community support championed by the DOAM Foundation.
