The driver of a Kampala-bound Nile Star bus that crashed in Nwoya District on Monday morning deliberately ignored pleas from passengers, who cautioned him against speeding, this publication has learnt.

At least seven people died in the crash on the Karuma-Pakwach highway that also left several others injured.
Passenger accounts suggest that the driver, Kasim Mandela Abugo, had been driving recklessly throughout the journey. He is now in police custody at Nwoya Central Police Station.
