Senator AbdulRahman Kawu Sumaila has cited his commitment to the people of Southern Kano as the primary reason for his decision to leave the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
According to Sumaila, his departure from the party was driven by his desire to secure greater opportunities for progress and solutions for his constituency—opportunities he believes he could not achieve within the NNPP framework.
In an interview with BBC Hausa, Senator Sumaila clarified that while he had left the ruling party in Kano, this decision would not impact his relationship with the state government.
