The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kano State has said that there is no legal backing for the term “inconclusive elections” in Nigeria’s electoral laws.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Abdu Zango, made this known on Thursday while addressing stakeholders at a meeting held at the INEC headquarters in Kano.
The meeting was part of preparations for the upcoming bye-election and rerun in the Bagwai/Shanono and Ghari/Tsanyawa state constituencies, scheduled for August 16.
Zango explained that the Electoral Act does not recognize the phrase inconclusive elections, even though it has been used in previous election cycles.
