I must admit, the last few weeks have been a struggle for me. As we entered February, I found myself facing a series of obstacles that have left me feeling overwhelmed and unsure of how to move forward. The initial momentum I had experienced at the end of last year and the beginning of January, which had given me hope for a successful 2024, quickly faltered as I encountered challenges in each of my businesses.

First and foremost, the Airbnb unit that had been performing so well suddenly took a hit when the owner of the apartment block discovered that my partner, Dog, had been giving preferential treatment to my unit over others. As a result, he was replaced by an uncompromising caretaker named Tina, and the demand for my rental flat plummeted, leaving me with a significant loss of income.

Additionally, the bar I had agreed to run for a friend turned out to be a poor investment as the customer base primarily consisted of local police officers who were not the most reliable when it came to paying their tabs. The bar, which I quickly dubbed “Dead End Bar,” proved to be a financial burden, and I struggled to see any possibility of recouping my initial investment.

Finally, the financial strain of my business dealings with Mr. Zhao Li, who had extended me credit for furnishings and housewares for my Airbnb, left me barely able to make ends meet. I was quickly overwhelmed with mounting debts and uncertain of how to proceed.

In the midst of this despair, I found myself in a surprising and unexpected situation when my friend Natasha proposed a business venture involving the importation of fabric from Abuja. Suddenly, the outlook began to shift, and I allowed myself to entertain the idea of pursuing a new venture with Natasha, despite my initial reservations.

As I sat in Natasha’s home, contemplating this new business proposition, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease when I discovered a passport bearing a different name than the one she had shared with me. This revelation added a layer of complexity to an already uncertain situation.

Despite the challenges that lay ahead, I found myself cautiously embracing the potential of this new business opportunity with Natasha. While uncertainties lingered and obstacles remained, I couldn’t ignore the flicker of hope that had emerged in the midst of adversity. As I contemplated the prospect of business in Abuja with Natasha, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement and renewed determination. Perhaps, 2024 would not be the year I had envisioned, but it was clear that new possibilities were on the horizon, and I was ready to face them head-on.
