The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to be a part of his administration’s efforts to rejuvenate the hope of Nigerians. This appreciation came after Mr. Wike inspected ongoing rural roads projects in Bwari and Abuja Municipal Area Councils in Abuja.

Mr. Wike also praised Tinubu for the significant support provided to the FCT Administration in delivering essential infrastructure and quality services to the residents of the FCT. The projects inspected included a 7.2-kilometer road linking Gaba and Tokulo communities in Bwari Area Council and a five-kilometer access road linking Saburi 1 and 2 in Abuja Municipal Area Council.

These roads are part of the 42-kilometer rural roads being constructed across the six area councils of the FCT. Mr. Wike emphasized that the “Renewed Hope” agenda by Tinubu was not just limited to urban areas but extended to ensure that rural communities also benefit from his administration’s initiatives.

The minister highlighted the importance of the renewed hope agenda in addressing the needs of rural areas and providing vital infrastructure to improve the lives of residents. He mentioned that despite the challenging terrain in Bwari, the road construction projects signify progress and hope for the region.

Mr. Wike expressed his joy in being a part of the administration and witnessing positive changes taking place. He also mentioned the enthusiasm among the people in Saburi upon the inauguration of the road, indicating the impact of the government’s initiatives on the local community.

The minister assured that all six projects in the area councils would be completed before the end of the year, with plans to commence infrastructure development in the area councils in 2024. He emphasized that the road projects were funded from the 2023 emergency supplementary budget and that the FCT 2024 statutory budget, once assented by Tinubu, would be utilized for additional road constructions.

Mr. Wike expressed confidence in the feasibility of the 2024 budget, with 58% of the capital budget allocated to ongoing projects and the remaining 42% earmarked for critical new projects. He reiterated that the administration is committed to completing all initiated projects in a timely manner, showcasing the practical implementation of Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.

Overall, the inspection of the rural road projects and Mr. Wike’s positive remarks reflect the government’s dedication to improving infrastructure and providing hope to both urban and rural communities in the FCT. The administration’s efforts to deliver on its promises and bring tangible change to the region are evident in the progress of the ongoing projects.
