The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution (PHED) Company has provided an explanation for the ongoing blackout in Akwa Ibom State, located in the South-south region of Nigeria. This update was shared by the electricity distribution company via a statement posted on its Twitter handle on a Saturday.

According to the statement, the outage affecting Uyo, Eket, and Ikot Ekpene is due to a fault in the Uyo/Itu 132kv power transmission line. As a result, residents and business owners in these areas have been without electricity for two days, resorting to alternative power sources like generators to meet their energy needs.

This is not the first time that Akwa Ibom State has experienced such a power outage attributed to the 132kv power transmission line. In a previous incident reported in February, local businesses expressed their concerns about the impact of prolonged power outages on their operations.

In response to the current situation, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) maintenance crew is actively working to repair the fault and restore power supply to the affected areas. PHED has assured its customers that once the repair work is completed, electricity will be fully restored in a timely manner.

Additionally, the distribution company has also issued a statement regarding power outages in parts of Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The current outage affecting Alcon Road, Nvigwe, and Woji Estate is attributed to TCN load shedding, specifically due to power transformer limitations at the transmission station.

This marks the second instance in three months where PHED has reported power outages in different parts of Port Harcourt. Despite the challenges faced, the company is making concerted efforts to address and resolve these issues to ensure consistent and reliable power supply to its customers.

As the situation continues to evolve, PHED remains committed to keeping the public informed and updated on the progress of the repair works and restoration of power supply in the affected areas. Customers are encouraged to stay connected to official channels for further updates and announcements regarding the ongoing efforts to address the power outage issues in Akwa Ibom State and Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

In conclusion, the PHED Company acknowledges the inconvenience caused by the recent power outages and assures its customers of its dedication to resolving these issues promptly to minimize disruptions and restore regular electricity supply to the affected regions.
