Femi Adesina, a former presidential aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, recently made a stunning revelation about his decision to stop attending the Foursquare Gospel Church in Abuja. He explained that the reason for his departure from the church was due to his inability to tolerate the constant criticism of his principal by his pastor, Reverend Babajide Olowodola. This revelation was made public in his newly launched book titled “Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media and Publicity (2015-2023)”.
Adesina disclosed that he ceased attending the Asokoro-based church in February 2018 because he felt the pastor’s criticisms of Buhari were prejudiced and exhibited messianic tendencies. According to him, he remained a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church but could not bear to listen to a biased preacher.
In his book, Adesina also addressed the misconception that Buhari was a ‘Jubril of Sudan’ clone, debunking the claims and affirming the authenticity of his principal. He further noted that Buhari displayed genuine concern for his subordinates, as evidenced by his reaction to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s survival of a helicopter crash.
Additionally, Adesina provided insight into Buhari’s government and their actions towards Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). He revealed that the federal government led by Buhari did Kanu a favor by extraditing him to Nigeria.
These revelations are part of Adesina’s efforts to shed light on his experiences working with Buhari and serve as essential insights into the inner workings of the administration. The book provides a comprehensive reflection of Adesina’s time as a Special Adviser and Media and Publicity from 2015 to 2023.
The significant impact of Adesina’s revelations is evident in the attention they have garnered from various media outlets, providing valuable insight into the dynamics of political and religious interactions within the Nigerian context.
