The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has debunked rumors suggesting a price adjustment for Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, and Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) at its retail outlets nationwide. Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., issued a statement on Wednesday clarifying that the reports were false.

Reports had surfaced in some sections of the media claiming that the ex-depot price for PMS had been reduced from N640 to N630 for independent oil marketers, while NNPC Ltd. maintained its price at N570. The new ex-depot price of N630 for independent marketers is just a one percent reduction following NNPC Ltd.’s decision to directly supply products to marketers while keeping its ex-depot price at N570.

Previously, independent marketers would receive supplies from private depots, but the recent change in the supply arrangement led to reactions from Nigerians who assumed that NNPC Ltd. had decreased the pump price at their retail outlets from N617 to N570. Mr. Soneye urged Nigerians to disregard these reports and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to ensuring a consistent supply of petroleum products at all its retail stations nationwide.

The NNPC Ltd. has been dedicated to maintaining the current sufficiency in petroleum products supply, and this commitment is evident in their efforts to dispel any misinformation regarding price adjustments. Despite the false reports circulating in the media, consumers can rest assured that the prices at NNPC Ltd. retail outlets remain unchanged.

It is essential for the public to remain vigilant and verify information before reacting to sensationalized news. The NNPC Ltd. remains transparent in its operations and is focused on providing reliable and affordable petroleum products to consumers across the country.

In conclusion, the recent rumors about price adjustments for PMS and Diesel at NNPC Ltd. retail outlets are false. The company maintains its prices at N570 for PMS and continues to prioritize the efficient supply of petroleum products to meet the needs of consumers nationwide. Consumers are encouraged to stay informed and rely on accurate information from reliable sources to avoid falling prey to misinformation.
