The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, has stated that the military will not relent in dealing decisively with those who take up arms against the country until they are defeated. He emphasized the strength, resilience, focus, pride, and commitment of the men and women in uniform, acknowledging the necessity to continue the fight to ensure a safer environment for all citizens. Any group that chooses to engage in armed conflict against the nation will face severe military action and be dealt with decisively.
During a bi-weekly news briefing in Abuja, Mr Buba emphasized the crucial need for total and unconditional support from the people for the military. He highlighted the significant impact of civilian support in empowering the troops to effectively combat terrorists and other criminals nationwide. The Director stressed that citizens have a responsibility to the nation and must actively contribute to the collective effort to enhance security and stability.
He pointed out that many of the security challenges facing the country, such as banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, illegal mining, and secessionist movements, are primarily driven by self-serving individuals seeking personal gain. Mr Buba recognized the complexities and difficulties ahead in the ongoing battle against these threats, stating the military’s clear objective to cripple the terrorists and their collaborators, preventing them from continuing their destructive activities.
In conclusion, the Director highlighted the urgent need for citizens to understand and fulfill their role in supporting the military and promoting national security.
