The governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have issued a warning to their counterparts from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to refrain from making statements that could potentially incite the public against the Federal Government. The chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, conveyed this message in a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday. This comes in response to a demand by the PDP Governors calling on the APC-led federal government to address the worsening economic hardship in the country.
Uzodimma emphasized the importance of cooperation to address the nation’s security and economic challenges, urging both parties to refrain from blaming one another. The PDP governors had expressed concerns about the economic hardship experienced by Nigerians, attributing it to the economic and security challenges facing the nation. They even went as far as comparing Nigeria’s situation to that of Venezuela’s.
In response to the PDP governors’ press conference, Uzodimma criticized their approach and deemed it disloyal for those in positions of authority to ignore the efforts of President Bola Tinubu to find long-term solutions. He pointed out that despite the PDP governors listing several economic issues, they failed to provide a single solution. Uzodimma stressed that the decision to address these challenges rests with the Nigerian people and other organs in the country, emphasizing the need for actions that will bring relief to all.
Furthermore, Uzodimma addressed the economic policy, noting that the PDP governors were previously supportive of it, urging them to remember the temporary hardship caused by the policy and how it will eventually lead to prosperity.
The statement from the APC governors reflects the ongoing political tensions and debates surrounding Nigeria’s economic and security challenges. It highlights the divisions between the ruling party and the opposition, with both sides expressing concerns about the country’s current state.
The exchange between the APC and PDP governors underscores the need for constructive dialogue and collaboration to address the challenges facing Nigeria. It also emphasizes the importance of finding practical solutions to these issues rather than engaging in blame games and political rhetoric.
As the nation grapples with economic and security challenges, the responsibility falls on both the government and the opposition to work together in the best interest of the Nigerian people. This includes acknowledging the efforts made by all parties and focusing on viable solutions to improve the overall welfare and prosperity of the country.
In conclusion, the statement from the APC governors serves as a reminder of the need for unity and cooperation in addressing the complex issues confronting Nigeria. It also highlights the significance of responsible leadership and the imperative to prioritize the well-being of the citizens.
