The University of Ilorin recently took disciplinary action against 19 students for various offences, resulting in their expulsion or rustication. These students were found guilty of engaging in misconduct, theft, examination malpractice, hostel bed-space racketeering, extortion, assault, and admission racketeering. Among those affected were six final year students, according to the varsity’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun.
The decision to expel or rusticate the students was based on the recommendations of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee during its 220th/221st meeting. The majority of the affected students were in their first, second, third, or fourth year of study at the university. While some students were expelled, others faced rustication for either one academic session or one semester.
