Troops of Operation Safe Haven, OPSH, a military special taskforce responsible for maintaining peace in Plateau, as well as parts of Bauchi and Kaduna States, demonstrated exemplary integrity by rejecting a N1.5 million bribe from suspected cattle rustlers in Plateau.

According to Captain James Oya, the Media Officer of the operation, the troops attached to Sector four encountered two suspected rustlers who attempted to bribe them. Despite the temptation, the eight personnel stood firm, refusing the bribe. Their actions were not only commended by their superiors but also rewarded by the commander of the operation, Major General Abdusalam Abubakar.

The incident took place when the troops intercepted 30 rustled cows at a checkpoint near Bisichi in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State. The cattle, belonging to Shehu Umar and stolen in Mangu, were being transported to an undisclosed location when they were discovered during a routine stop and search operation.

The suspects, identified as Anas Usman, 20, and Gyang Cholly, 42, attempted to bribe the troops in a desperate effort to secure safe passage for the stolen cattle. However, the soldiers remained steadfast in their duty, rejecting the monetary offer and promptly arresting the suspects along with the bribe money.

Captain Oya emphasized that the commander praised the troops for their courage and upstanding behavior. He encouraged personnel from other security agencies to follow their example in prioritizing the safety and security of lives and property in the state.

This act of integrity and loyalty to their duty reflects the core values of the Nigerian military and serves as a shining example of professionalism and commitment to maintaining law and order. The disciplined response of the troops in the face of corruption is a testament to their honor and dedication to serving the people of Nigeria.

In a time where corruption and dishonesty often plague society, the actions of these troops serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration. Their principled stand against bribery and their commitment to upholding justice and order deserve recognition and praise.

It is through the bravery and integrity of individuals like these troops that the fabric of society is strengthened and trust in institutions is restored. As they continue to fulfill their duty with honor and valor, the people of Plateau, as well as neighboring states, can rest assured that their safety and security are in capable hands.

In conclusion, the rejection of the bribe by the troops of Operation Safe Haven reaffirms the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian military to uphold the rule of law and protect the citizens they serve. Their actions serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of integrity and righteousness in the face of temptation and corruption.
