The Nigerian Army troops have achieved a significant victory by neutralising a notorious terrorist leader known as Maikusa, who served as the second-in-command to the infamous terrorist Modi Modi in Katsina. This successful operation was carried out in Kurfi and Safana Local Government Areas of the state, as reported by the Director of Army Public Relations, Maj-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu in Abuja.
According to Mr Nwachukwu, the troops took down Maikusa along with three other terrorists during a counter-operation on Monday. The ferocious operation also led to the clearance of terrorists’ enclaves in the said areas, demonstrating the army’s commitment to eradicating terrorism in the region.
Despite facing vehement resistance from the violent extremists, the troops displayed courage and overpower the terrorists with superior firepower. Some terrorists were neutralised on the spot, while others scattered in disarray. The recovery of two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, 65 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, a locally fabricated gun, and camouflage uniforms further disrupted the terrorists’ activities.
In addition to this successful operation, the troops continued their clearance operations by destroying terrorists’ camps in Wurma, Shaiskawa, Yauni, and Dogon Marke villages in Kurfi Local Government Area, as well as in Ummadau and Zakka villages in Safana Local Government Area. The army’s aggressive posture in the region aims to eliminate any remnants of the terrorist cell and ensure the safety and security of the local population.
