In an unfortunate incident, terrorists attacked the community of Wurma in the Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State, abducting 12 residents and burning down a health care facility along with a police outpost, several houses, and vehicles.

This attack is part of a disturbing trend where motorcycle-riding terrorists in the North-west region have expanded their operations to include not only abduction and killing but also the burning down of houses, shops, and vehicles.

According to reports from residents, the terrorists arrived in the community around 7 p.m. and began shooting indiscriminately, causing panic among the residents who had to flee for safety.

The attackers then proceeded to set fire to the police outpost before targeting the newly built primary healthcare center and burning it down. Despite the efforts of a few policemen present, they were unable to match the weapons possessed by the terrorists.

A community leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the terrorists abducted 12 residents during the attack, primarily women and children. Fortunately, no deaths were reported during this tragic incident.

This attack is part of a series of violent activities carried out by terrorists in Katsina State in recent days, resulting in the deaths and abductions of many residents in communities such as Yan Gayya, Lambo, Barkiya, Rawayau, and Kukar Babangida.

The police spokesperson for the state, Abubakar-Sadik Aliyu, did not respond to inquiries regarding the attack. This silence raises concerns about the ability of law enforcement agencies to address the growing security challenges in the region.

The images of the burnt healthcare facility and commercial vehicles serve as a somber reminder of the devastation caused by these terrorists.

It is essential for the authorities to take urgent action to protect the residents of Katsina State and prevent further attacks by these terrorist groups. The safety and security of the people should be a top priority, and measures must be implemented to prevent such heinous acts in the future.

The community leaders and residents affected by these attacks are in dire need of support and assistance to recover from the trauma and rebuild their lives.

As the region grapples with the impact of terrorism, it is crucial for the government and security agencies to work together to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents.

The resilience and unity of the affected communities in the face of these challenges are commendable, but they also require support and resources to overcome these difficult times. It is a collective responsibility to stand against terrorism and uphold peace and security in the region.
