A former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, has described the Supreme Court judgement affirming local government final autonomy as a severe setback to the principles of true federalism.

In a statement on his X handle on Thursday, Mr Ibori said: “Supreme Court has dealt a severe setback on the principle of federalism as defined by section 162[3] of the 1999 Constitution [as amended].
