The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has made it clear that the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna does not belong to Sheikh Ahmed Gumi’s lineage but to the Muslim community under the organization’s control. The Administrative Secretary of JNI, Yusuf Bida, addressed the media in Kaduna to clarify a write-up circulating on social media regarding the appointment of a Deputy for Sheikh Gumi.
The write-up, allegedly written by one of Sheikh Gumi’s disciples and students, emphasized that the new Deputy of the Mosque did not follow Gumi’s school of thought. It also claimed that the appointment was made by individuals who were not connected with the Mosque or the teachings of the late Sheikh Abubakar Gumi.
Mr. Bida stated that the purpose of the write-up was to incite people and create chaos in a Mosque that had been peaceful for a long time. He explained that the appointment of Imams and Deputies in the Mosque was based on applications from interested candidates and subsequent examinations conducted by the JNI. The best candidates were then appointed to their respective roles.
Sheikh Ahmed Gumi, the current Imam of the Mosque, also emerged through the same process. Mr. Bida urged Sheikh Gumi’s students worldwide, who were distressed by the false information on social media, to remain calm and ignore the misinformation.
Additionally, Mr. Bida called on the security agencies in the state and the Mosque’s Management Board to take immediate action against those trying to stir up trouble in the Mosque.
In conclusion, the JNI reiterated that the Sultan Bello Mosque belonged to the Muslim community under its control and that appointments in the Mosque were made through a transparent process. They urged people to disregard false information and maintain peace and harmony within the Mosque and the broader community. It is essential to address any attempts to disrupt the peaceful environment of religious institutions and take appropriate action against those responsible. The JNI remains committed to upholding the values of unity, understanding, and cooperation among all members of the Muslim community.
