Celebrity journalist and founder of the Best of Nollywood (BON) ventures, Seun Oloketuyi, was recently honored with the Ekiti Future Agenda award at the Ekiti Future Agenda Roundtable held in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. The award was presented to him in recognition of his leadership and inspiration in promoting Nigeria’s entertainment industry through the Best of Nollywood Awards.

Oloketuyi, who was also inducted into the Ekiti Future Agenda Hall of Fame as one of the “20 Ekiti leading lights and role models,” has successfully maintained the Best of Nollywood Awards as the longest-running award platform in Nigeria for the past 15 years. This platform celebrates outstanding achievements in the Nigerian film industry.

The Ekiti Future Agenda roundtable, themed “Ekiti Knowledge Zone: Its Mission and the Missing Point,” brought together stakeholders from various backgrounds, including the Ekiti Commissioner for Innovation, Technology, and Digital Economy, Seun Fakuade, who served as the lead discussant. The participants agreed that concerted efforts are needed to ensure the successful implementation of the Knowledge Zone project.

Fakuade revealed that approximately $18 billion has been approved for the project, which is anticipated to materialize within the next two years. The Ekiti Knowledge Zone aims to generate an annual revenue of $100 million and serve as an industrial park for innovative ideas, new generation start-ups, and economic wealth creation.

The commissioner emphasized that Ekiti State is poised to become the intellectual capital of Nigeria through the Knowledge Zone, attracting developers and fostering economic growth. Otunba Taiwo Ojo, an IT expert and international businessman, echoed the importance of realizing the project’s potential, suggesting that Ekiti could potentially earn more than $100 billion annually from the Zone with proper implementation.

Furthermore, the participants highlighted the need for job creation, skill development, and reliable Internet services in Ekiti State. They emphasized the importance of preparing the youth for opportunities within the Knowledge Zone and suggested revisions to the school curriculum to incorporate modern skills and technology innovations.

Aare Temitope Amerijoye urged the government to address poverty and create more job opportunities for the youth. The participants agreed that Ekiti residents, both locally and abroad, should leverage the Knowledge Zone for skill acquisition and societal contribution.

In conclusion, the Ekiti Future Agenda roundtable served as a platform for fruitful discussions on the future of Ekiti State across various sectors. The participants highlighted the importance of collaboration, innovation, and youth empowerment in driving sustainable development and economic growth in the region.
