The Nigeria Schools Sports Federation (NSSF) held its 2024 yearly general assembly at the National Institute of Sports (NIS) in Lagos, where Olabisi Joseph was re-elected for a second term as president. Joseph, who is the first female president of the NSSF, was unanimously re-elected by the delegates from 27 states and FCT Abuja.

During the assembly, the delegates praised Joseph’s first term, citing Nigeria’s participation in various International School Sports Federation (ISF) events in France, Mexico, and Morocco as evidence of the federation’s return to the international scene.

In her acceptance speech, Joseph expressed gratitude to the delegates for their trust and confidence in her leadership. She pledged to work harder to make NSSF a hub for discovering talent in sports and vowed to continue the federation’s progress.

The newly elected executive committee includes Dickson Monday Tinism as VP 1, Emmanuel Ebong as VP 2, Ifeoma Onuchukwu as VP 3, Aminu Fada as VP 4, Dr Oba Funsho Usman as Secretary General, Adagbo Godwin Abari as Treasurer, Fawolu Robertson Olajide as Financial Secretary, Aka Ikechukwu as Assistant Secretary, Hassan Dauda as Auditor 1, David Bot Danbuyi as Auditor 2, and Sagiru Sani Dandano as PRO.

Joseph expressed her commitment to work with the new executives to change the narrative of school sports and ultimately impact the overall state of sports in Nigeria. She emphasized the importance of continuing the federation’s progress and fulfilling the goals set during her first term.

The assembly was well-attended, and Joseph’s re-election signifies the delegates’ confidence in her leadership and their belief in her ability to lead NSSF to new heights. Joseph welcomed the opportunity to serve another term and pledged to live up to the expectations of the delegates and take the federation to even greater success.
