Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, expressed concern about the fate of sacked lawmakers in the state. He mentioned that all possible solutions, politically and legally, would be explored in order to resolve the political crisis in the state. The Governor also assured that his government would take steps to restore peace in Plateau State. During a visit to the Villa, Mutfwang thanked Bola Ahmed Tinubu for not interfering in the judiciary’s functions.

His visit to the Aso Villa came after a Supreme Court judgement reversed his earlier removal and affirmed him as the governor of Plateau state. Mutfwang emphasized that the focus is on restoring peace and reducing areas of friction within the state.

Furthermore, 16 members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, five members of the House of Representatives, and two senators from the state had been sacked by the Court of Appeal. This led to uncertainty as the state House of Assembly was set to resume with fears that the remaining PDP members would not inaugurate the new members.

Prior to his Supreme Court victory, Mutfwang hinted at seeking all possible solutions, including legal, political, or otherwise, to ensure a peaceful environment that would allow him to focus on development and governance. He also expressed thanks to Nigerians for their interest in the Plateau situation, mentioning that it would enrich the jurisprudence and strengthen justice in the country.

In another development, APC chieftain Williams Dakwom mentioned that the Supreme Court justices obeyed President Tinubu’s directive to avoid chaos and ensure that each candidate gets their mandate. Kano Governor Abba Yusuf expressed his delight over the Supreme Court verdict that affirmed him as governor, highlighting that the apex court declared there was no illegality regarding the Kano state governorship election.
