Saadatu Rimi University of Education, located in Kumbotso, Kano State, recently made a significant investment in its Information Technology Development Initiative by spending N30 million to procure 90 inter-connected terabyte capacity computers. Additionally, the university has equipped all its examination centres with Close Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) to prevent examination malpractice and improve students’ performance.
According to Prof. Yahaya Bunkure, the Vice Chancellor of the university, the 90 computers were purchased using funds from the university’s revitalization budget. This investment is part of the university’s strategic plan to ensure that it is fully integrated with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to better compete with other higher education institutions. The goal is to upgrade the university’s infrastructure and resources to enhance its academic standing and produce top-notch graduates who will contribute to the development of the nation.
The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) branch at the university, Shittu Gargai, expressed appreciation for the procurement of accessories such as Smart Boards, Protectors, and other computer items. He believes that these tools will not only enhance academic excellence within the institution but also benefit students and the broader community.
The secretary of the union, Zubaida Muhammad Musa, commended the Vice Chancellor for effectively utilizing the funds allocated to the university. This move demonstrates the university’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment and ensuring that students receive a quality education.
By investing in state-of-the-art technology and equipment, Saadatu Rimi University of Education is positioning itself as a leading institution that prioritizes innovation and academic excellence.
