The 2023 general election in Nigeria is fast approaching, and one presidential candidate is already making waves with his acts of solidarity and unity. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, recently demonstrated his commitment to fostering harmony and cooperation among diverse communities during the Ramadan season.

During the holy month of Ramadan, Peter Obi made a visit to the Maraba-Nyanya International Market Central Mosque, where he fed and broke the fast with approximately 1000 individuals. This act of generosity was more than just a symbolic gesture – it was a tangible expression of his belief in the power of unity and solidarity in bringing people together.

In addition to his visit to the mosque, Peter Obi also traveled to Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, where he met with the Emir of Lafia, retired Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad, and extended courtesies to Governor Abdullahi Sule. This visit was not just a formality for Peter Obi, but a genuine expression of respect and solidarity with the community.

During his time in Lafia, Peter Obi took the opportunity to learn about the experiences of the people, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. He also used this visit as an opportunity to provide support to those facing hardships during these challenging times. As part of his nationwide initiative to assist those in need, Peter Obi offered aid to approximately 100 individuals and addressed a critical societal need by installing a borehole in the community.

One of the highlights of Peter Obi’s visit to Lafia was his participation in feeding and breaking the Ramadan fast with around 1000 individuals at the Maraba-Nyanya International Market Central Mosque. This act symbolized unity and cooperation during the auspicious season of Ramadan, and showcased Peter Obi’s commitment to standing with the people in their times of need.

For Peter Obi, these visits are more than just photo ops – they are invaluable opportunities to gain insight into the realities faced by the people of Nigeria. He recognizes that many individuals are enduring immense hardships, and believes that leaders have a responsibility to show empathy and take action to support those in need.

As Peter Obi gears up for the 2023 presidential election, his actions during the Ramadan season serve as a powerful reminder of the kind of leadership Nigeria needs – one that is rooted in compassion, solidarity, and a genuine desire to uplift the lives of all its citizens.
