The founder of the Inri Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Babatunde Elijah Ayodele, has predicted that the current governor of Akwa Ibom state, Umo Bassey Eno, will soon leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Ayodele made this forecast via his social media handle, asserting that “the PDP will lose Akwa Ibom.” He also advised the PDP to embark on a total rebranding, suggesting that if the party does not change its slogan, it won’t get anything right in future elections.
Eno is a prominent chieftain of the PDP, which propelled him to victory in the 2023 general elections. Ayodele’s prediction has sparked speculation about the political landscape in Akwa Ibom state and the potential impact of Eno’s defection to the APC. The cleric’s prediction comes amidst speculation about other high-profile political figures potentially defecting from their current parties.
In a related event, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state met with former governor Ayodele Fayose in an effort to resolve the crisis rocking the PDP in the southwest geopolitical zone. Governor Adeleke also disclosed that he believes he is qualified to be the President of Nigeria and would seize the opportunity if it arises.
The political landscape in Nigeria continues to evolve, with key political figures considering and making strategic moves to position themselves for future elections. The predictions made by Primate Ayodele and the developments in the PDP and APC illustrate the dynamic nature of Nigerian politics and the importance of strategic alliances and party dynamics. This prediction has garnered attention amidst the broader political context in Nigeria and the evolving landscape of party politics.
