The report claiming this was dismissed by Obi’s media team, Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), who labeled it as fake news created by mischief makers. Michael Jude Nwolisa, Obi’s Media Aide, emphasized that Obi’s loyalty to the Labour Party remains unwavering.
According to a report by Vanguard, Obi categorically refuted the rumors and attributed them to individuals with malicious intentions. The statement issued by Michael Jude Nwolisa on behalf of Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) on Friday, February 23, clarified the situation. The media aide emphasized that those spreading false information about Obi leaving the Labour Party are enemies of democracy and are trying to cause discord within the party.
The crisis within the Labour Party has been linked to attempts to destabilize the party and target Peter Obi, as reported by Newthe Telegraph. Despite the turmoil, Obi remains a committed member of the Labour Party and has no intentions of abandoning the party. Nwolisa emphasized that Obi’s dedication to the party and the greater goal of rescuing Nigeria from corrupt forces is resolute.
In response to the speculation and unrest within the party, the 36 state chairmen of the Labour Party, including representatives from the FCT, clarified that they have no plans to suspend Peter Obi. Ceekay Igara, the chairman of the council of state chairmen of the party, stated that the party has not entertained any discussions regarding the suspension of either Peter Obi or Julius Abure, the embattled national chairman of the LP. This statement from the LP’s website on Tuesday, February 20, aimed to dispel any misinformation circulating about the party’s leadership.
