The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth wing has issued a statement urging President Bola Tinubu to seek guidance from former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan on how to move Nigeria forward amid the current challenges facing the country.

The youth wing expressed the view that Nigeria is in need of a leader who can steer the country towards economic recovery, as they believe Tinubu has failed in this regard. They highlighted the fact that former President Muhammadu Buhari spent eight years in office blaming Jonathan and the PDP, and now Tinubu and his team are following the same pattern by blaming the APC government under Buhari.

Usman Okai Austin, the National Coordinator of PDP Youths Frontier, emphasized the importance of having leaders who are capable of addressing the nation’s current challenges and guiding it towards economic recovery and security solutions. He suggested that President Tinubu should seek guidance from experienced leaders like Jonathan and Obasanjo in order to move the country forward.

The statement also called for setting aside differences within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and focusing on the well-being of Nigerians. Okai pointed out that Tinubu’s role in the development of Lagos State is overstated, as it benefited from its strategic location and previous status as the Federal Capital Territory before being relocated to Abuja by Ibrahim Babagida.

The youth wing also criticized the APC for relying on propaganda and highlighted the failure of the president’s economic policies to address modern challenges facing the country. They expressed concern over the confusion within the party leadership, which they believe demonstrates a lack of understanding of Nigeria’s complexities. They also criticized the party’s trend of blaming others for the country’s challenges.

The statement highlighted the economic hardships faced by Nigerians, leading to dropouts from schools and soaring prices of goods and services, resulting in the depreciation of the Naira. The youth wing expressed the view that the administration appears confused in the midst of economic and insecurity crises.

They also pointed out that Tinubu, considered the best within the APC, has failed similarly to Buhari in economic management. They called on him to take responsibility for his administration’s failures instead of resorting to blame games, as they believe that APC is not the better option for the country, given the current suffering of Nigerians.

Overall, the statement from the PDP youth wing emphasizes the need for leadership capable of addressing the country’s challenges and guiding it towards economic recovery and security solutions. They call for a shift away from blame games and propaganda, and for a focus on the well-being of Nigerians.
