The much-anticipated Edo PDP Primary Election is set to take place on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the state capital. As the election date approaches, aspirants and delegates have been provided with guidelines to ensure a smooth and orderly process.

The State Organising Secretary, Tony Anenih Jnr., released the guidelines which outline the accreditation process for delegates. Delegates are required to gather at the Edo Hotel Marque, GRA, Benin City, where the accreditation process will commence at 8 am. Upon successful accreditation, delegates will be issued security access cards to allow for a secure and controlled entry process at the primary venue.

To facilitate the transportation of delegates, designated buses will be made available to convey them to the primary venue. Only accredited delegates will be permitted to board these buses, and private vehicles will not be allowed onto the premises of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. Governorship aspirants have been instructed to utilize specified vehicles to drop themselves and their guests at the gate before departing.

In addition, aspirants must collect two security tags from the Edo PDP Secretariat on Airport Road in Benin City, with each tag allowing entry for one guest. To maintain order, delegates will be seated in the stadium based on their respective local government areas. Accreditation for journalists and civil society organizations will take place at the Marque, and only accredited press personnel and media outfits will have access to the primary venue.

It has been emphasized by Tony Anenih Jnr. that only delegates, guests, and aspirants will be permitted inside the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium during the primary, with all concerned parties required to be seated by 11 am. This exclusivity is intended to ensure a focused and orderly primary election process.

As the Edo PDP Primary Election draws near, all stakeholders are reminded to adhere to these guidelines to guarantee a successful and peaceful event. It is crucial for the integrity of the primary election that the rules and protocols are followed by all those involved.

As the state prepares for this significant event, the focus remains on conducting a fair and transparent primary election that will ultimately determine the PDP’s candidate for the upcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State. The party is dedicated to upholding democratic ideals and ensuring that the voice of the people is heard through a credible and well-organized primary process.

As the day of the primary election approaches, all eyes are on Edo State, as the PDP sets the stage for a crucial and historic event. The outcome of the primary will have a far-reaching impact on the political landscape of the state, and it is essential that the process is conducted with integrity and in accordance with the party’s guidelines and principles.
