The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently clarified that it has not yet zoned its ticket for the November 16, 2024 governorship election to any specific part of Ondo State. This clarification came through a statement made by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunbaga.

During a meeting on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, the NWC reassured all intending governorship aspirants in Ondo State of a level playing ground in the nomination process. The party emphasized that the nomination process and activities leading up to the governorship election will be inclusive, free, fair, and transparent, aligning with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and the Party Guidelines for the Election.

In an effort to promote reconciliation and unity among Party stakeholders in the state, the NWC approved a special meeting of party leaders. This meeting will include Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, and other top party leaders from Ondo State.

The party called upon all stakeholders to demonstrate fidelity to the Party and work together for the greater interest of the party and the people of Ondo State. It highlighted the importance of unity in the face of the failed administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The PDP is positioning itself as a viable alternative for the people of Ondo State who are looking to the party to bring about positive change and rescue the state from the challenges faced under the current administration. By providing a level playing ground for aspiring candidates and committing to a fair and transparent nomination process, the party aims to demonstrate its commitment to democracy and inclusivity.

As the 2024 governorship election approaches, the PDP is focused on building a strong and united front in Ondo State. With the support of key party leaders and stakeholders, the party is working towards a successful election campaign that will resonate with the people and offer a promising vision for the future of the state.

Overall, the PDP’s NWC’s announcement signals a commitment to democratic principles, fairness, and unity within the party. By setting a clear stance on the nomination process and emphasizing inclusivity, the party aims to foster a sense of trust and confidence among its members and supporters in Ondo State.
