A political pundit and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rilwan Olanrewaju, recently expressed his views that the PDP is the best political party Nigeria could ever have at the helm of its affairs. Olanrewaju stated that unlike the All Progressives Congress (APC), the PDP does not know how to use the media for propaganda. According to Olanrewaju, the PDP focuses more on governance than propaganda, and that’s why it is the only party with a distinct ideology.
Olanrewaju made these comments while reacting to the outcome of the rerun elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in some parts of the country. He pointed out that the recent rerun elections encompassed national and state assembly elections in nine states, including Kaduna, Plateau, Yobe, Lagos, Benue, Ondo, Borno, Ebonyi, and Kebbi. Olanrewaju also criticized the electoral body, accusing it of trying to ensure that the ruling APC remained in power despite the challenges facing the country.
According to Olanrewaju, the PDP has faced challenges related to being rigged out by APC and INEC, but it remains the only political party that is widely represented across every region in the country. He also expressed confidence that the crisis within the PDP will be resolved, and the party will soon regain its status as one of the top political parties in Nigeria. Olanrewaju went further to state that the APC has failed Nigerians and that INEC has been attempting to keep the ruling party in power at all costs, despite widespread support for the opposition.
In addressing the issue of propaganda, Olanrewaju indicated that the PDP remains the only political party with a distinct ideology and that its focus is on governance, bringing meaningful lives to Nigerians, rather than utilizing the media for propaganda purposes. He reiterated that the crisis within the PDP will be resolved, emphasizing that the party is still determined to move the country forward.
The political pundit also expressed his views on the economic policies of the ruling party, criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari’s economic team as local champions. He disputed the notion that Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of the APC, solely built Lagos’ economy, stating that the city would thrive even with the governance of a person of lesser brilliance.
