The former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, who was recently impeached by the Edo House of Assembly, has been given encouragement by the Lagos State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Philip Aivoji. Aivoji expressed his belief that Shaibu still has a chance to become the governor in the future and advised him to remain patient and loyal to the party despite the recent turn of events.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Aivoji urged Shaibu to trust in the process and not to lose hope. He emphasized the importance of Shaibu staying committed to the PDP and working towards reconciling any differences that may have arisen between him and Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The rift between Shaibu and Governor Obaseki began when Shaibu expressed his desire to succeed Obaseki as governor. This led to a parallel party governorship primary in February and ultimately resulted in Shaibu’s impeachment by the Edo House of Assembly. In response to his removal, Governor Obaseki swiftly appointed Omobayo Godwin as the new deputy governor.
Aivoji’s message to Shaibu was clear: stay with the party, trust in the process, and keep working towards your goal of becoming the governor. He reminded Shaibu of the party’s role in his political journey and encouraged him to focus on reconciling with any estranged parties to achieve his aspirations.
The Lagos State PDP Chairman’s advice to Shaibu stemmed from his belief that anything is possible in politics and that Shaibu still has a chance to achieve his dream of becoming governor. Aivoji stressed the importance of perseverance and faith in the face of challenges, urging Shaibu to never give up on his ambitions.
In conclusion, Aivoji’s words of encouragement to Shaibu serve as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of politics and the importance of staying true to one’s beliefs and goals. Despite the recent setback, Shaibu has been urged to remain resolute in his commitment to the PDP and to continue working towards his ultimate goal of becoming the governor of Edo State.
