The Osun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC) are currently in a heated dispute over the rehabilitation of the state government house by the Adeleke-led administration. The PDP, led by Chairman Hon. Sunday Bisi, asserted that Governor Adeleke is accomplishing many projects and programs that Oyetola failed to achieve during his four-year term. On the other hand, the APC, through its Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, claimed that the N1 billion rehabilitation of the Government House under Adeleke had already been completed to satisfaction by the former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, who is now the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.
The PDP refuted the APC’s claims and alleged that Oyetola’s administration had records of collecting money for various projects that were not executed. They criticized Oyetola for attempting to disrupt governance in Osun state by associating himself with President Bola Tinubu. The PDP warned Oyetola to cease his disruptive activities and accused him of being a sore loser who is trying to make the state ungovernable by invoking the President’s name for political gain.
The PDP urged Mr. Oyetola to abide by democratic principles and prepare for future elections rather than sabotaging the current administration. In response, the APC accused Governor Adeleke of misplacing priorities and wasting resources on the rehabilitation of the Government House. They criticized Adeleke for flaunting the expensive project during a time of economic hardship in the state. The APC questioned the necessity of such a project when the state was facing poverty and called for a focus on providing relief to the suffering populace.
The state APC chairman condemned the government’s lack of visible progress despite substantial revenue, labeling the rehabilitation of the Government House as unnecessary and fraudulent. He expressed concerns over the incompetence of the current administration in addressing the state’s pressing needs. The APC highlighted the discrepancy between the government’s actions and the priorities of the people, emphasizing the need for responsible governance and efficient resource utilization.
Overall, the political feud between the PDP and APC in Osun state reflects the broader challenges facing the region in terms of governance and development. The disagreement over the rehabilitation of the Government House underscores deeper issues of accountability, transparency, and effective leadership that are critical for the state’s progress and welfare of its citizens. It remains to be seen how this dispute will be resolved and its impact on the political landscape of Osun state.
