Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has recently nominated Dr. Olayide Adelami as his Deputy Governor, citing Adelami’s exceptional qualifications and capabilities to carry out the responsibilities of the office. Aiyedatiwa expressed that the overwhelming positive reactions following this nomination validate his decision.

In a statement at the Government House in Akure, on Friday, January 26, Aiyedatiwa revealed that the notable personalities, including traditional rulers and religious leaders, commended the appointment of Adelami. He also announced that he chose Tayo Oluwatuyi as the Secretary to the State Government for the same reasons.

Aiyedatiwa highlighted that the promising reactions received after nominating Adelami and Oluwatuyi for their respective positions signify that they are the right choices.

Additionally, it should be noted that Adelami is a kinsman of the late former governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and retired as the deputy-clerk to the National Assembly in April 2018. He was once an APC governorship aspirant in 2020 but withdrew from the race in favor of Akeredolu.

Moreover, the Ondo state House of Assembly has screened Adelami on Thursday, January 25. Olatuji Oshati, Chairman, House Committee on Information confirmed to newsmen that the date of Adelami’s screening had been scheduled. He emphasized that the name of the Deputy Governor nominee was received from the governor on Wednesday by the Speaker Rt. Hon., Olamide Oladiji on behalf of the House.

Aiyedatiwa’s choice of Adelami as Deputy Governor has elicited significant interest in Ondo State, with the public keen to see how Adelami’s experience and expertise will contribute to the governance of the state.
