The South West chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has recently raised concerns about an attempt to change the party’s logo. This move has sparked backlash from members of the zone who have been staunch supporters of the party for the past 20 years. The South West Public Relations Officer of NNPP, Mr. Kilamuwaye Badmus, addressed these issues in a statement released to the press in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

Badmus emphasized that the sudden plan to alter the NNPP logo is not acceptable to the members of the party in the South West region. He mentioned that the leaders and members of NNPP in the Southern Region are firmly against any move to change the party’s logo, especially since none of the members from the zone were consulted beforehand.

In his statement, Badmus urged Governor Abba Yusuff of Kano state and the National Assembly members elected under NNPP to uphold the current logo that has been symbolic of the party’s success in recent elections. He questioned the rationale behind changing a logo that has been associated with the party for over two decades, with its depiction of the Nigerian map and a basket of fruits symbolizing food security for the masses.

Furthermore, Badmus stressed that the decision to change the logo was not formally presented to the members for their input and therefore cannot be considered legitimate. He called on INEC to take note of this issue and reject any attempt to alter the original NNPP Party Logo without proper consultation and approval from the party’s members.

The South West leaders and members of NNPP expressed their discontent with the proposed logo change, asserting that it is not the appropriate solution to the internal crisis within the party. They argued that adopting a new color scheme associated with the Kwankwasiyya movement would not resonate with the party’s base in the Southwest region and does not align with their values and principles.

In conclusion, the South West chapter of NNPP is steadfast in their opposition to changing the party’s logo and calls for unity and transparency within the party leadership. They believe that preserving the current logo is essential in maintaining the party’s identity and values, and any attempt to alter it without proper consultation would only create further divisions within the party.
