The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted a mix of sunshine and thunderstorms from Monday to Wednesday. According to the weather outlook released in Abuja, NiMet expects sunny and hazy conditions in parts of Yobe and Borno states on Monday, with possible thunderstorms in Kebbi. The rest of the North should experience sunny skies with some cloud cover in the morning.
There is a chance of isolated thunderstorms later in the day in parts of Bauchi, Taraba, and Kaduna states. The North central region is expected to have sunny skies with isolated thunderstorms in areas like Niger, Kwara, and Benue during the morning hours. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are anticipated in Plateau, FCT, Benue, Nasarawa, and Kogi.
In the South, NiMet forecasts a cloudy day with spells of sunshine and isolated thunderstorms in states like Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Delta, Edo, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River during the morning. More isolated thunderstorms are predicted in Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Abia, Ogun, Imo, Edo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states.
For Tuesday, NiMet anticipates sunny skies with patches of clouds in the North and the possibility of morning thunderstorms in Taraba and Adamawa states. As the day progresses, isolated thunderstorms are expected in Taraba, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, and Bauchi. In the North central region, the morning should be sunny with clouds, followed by isolated thunderstorms in areas like the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Kogi, Plateau, and Benue.
The South is likely to experience increased clouds along the coast in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms in states like Imo, Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers. On Wednesday, NiMet predicts a sunny atmosphere in the North with isolated thunderstorms in Zamfara, Kebbi, Taraba, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Bauchi later in the day. The North central region should expect isolated thunderstorms in states like Niger, Kwara, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kogi, FCT, and Benue.
In the southern region, there will be a mix of clouds and sunshine with possible thunderstorms in Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi, Ogun, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Lagos in the afternoon or evening. NiMet advises the public to take precautions against strong winds that may precede the thunderstorms and airline operators to stay updated on weather reports for effective planning.
