The Nigerian Army Joint Task Force, Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) in the North-west region has achieved a significant victory by eliminating 12 bandits and recovering various weapons, including an AK-47 rifle. This successful operation was announced by the official Information Officer of the operation, Lieutenant Suleman Omale, in a statement released to the press in Gusau.
The operation’s primary objective is to combat violent extremists and restore peace and stability in the North-west region. The troops engaged in a fierce gun battle with terrorists in Babban Doka, Gobirawar Challi, and Kabaro communities in Maru Local Government Area, ultimately gaining dominance over these areas.
During the operation, the troops from the Dansadau area forward operating base demonstrated exceptional courage and successfully neutralized 12 terrorists. Additionally, they recovered significant weapons and assets from the scene, which included 1 AK-47 rifle, 1 magazine, 2 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 1 locally made gun, and 1 dane gun. Furthermore, the troops seized and destroyed 18 cows and 10 motorcycles belonging to the terrorists on the spot.
The Commander of 1 Brigade and Sector 1 OPHD, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, commended the troops for their resilience, doggedness, and gallantry displayed during the operation. He urged the troops to maintain their momentum and continue their efforts until normalcy is fully restored in the region. General Ahmed also extended his gratitude to the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Sokoto, and Commander OPHD, Godwin Mutkut, for their tactical leadership and support.
