Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State expressed confidence in the ability of the Nigerian Army to eliminate all armed groups that are causing chaos and unrest in the nation. His remarks were made during the 2023 West African Social Activities of the Nigerian Army’s IV Special Forces command in the Doma Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Sule commended the army and other security agencies for their relentless efforts in combating kidnapping, banditry, and other security challenges in the country. He also praised the Special Forces personnel for their dedication in tackling criminal elements within the state.

Highlighting the significance of the occasion, Governor Sule lauded the army for organizing the annual social event, WASA, which aims to bring together officers and their families to strengthen the bonds among different ethnic groups in the military. He emphasized that the event provides an opportunity for officers and soldiers to interact, showcase their cultures and traditions, and reinforce camaraderie.

The governor assured the army of the state government’s unwavering support and appreciation for their service. He acknowledged the vital role of the IV Special Forces in carrying out air-bound operations, counterinsurgency, counterterrorism, foreign-internal defense, and unconventional warfare, among other responsibilities.

Governor Sule acknowledged the sacrifices made by military personnel in various parts of the state, some of which resulted in the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation. He pledged to continue supporting the security personnel by providing security vehicles for surveillance and other necessary assistance to safeguard the lives and property of citizens.

Maj.-Gen. Hillary Nzan, the Commander of the special forces command, emphasized the importance of WASA in providing officers and soldiers with an opportunity to relax and socialize. He reiterated the command’s commitment to combat all forms of crimes within its jurisdiction and uphold the defense of the country’s territorial integrity.

During the event, awards of excellence were presented to five officers who had exhibited exceptional performance and dedication in their service. The Nigerian Army’s dedication to defending the nation and maintaining peace and security was reaffirmed by Mr. Nzan.

In conclusion, the event served as a platform for officers and soldiers to celebrate their achievements, strengthen relationships, and demonstrate their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation. The governor’s pledge of support and recognition of the army’s sacrifices underscored the importance of collaboration between the government and security forces in ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens.
