The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has announced the addition of two new players to the Super Eagles squad in preparation for two upcoming friendly matches in March. The players joining the squad for the first time are England-based Gabriel Osho and Tanzania-based Benjamin Tianimu.
The Super Eagles are set to face Ghana’s Black Stars and Les Aigles of Mali in two high-profile friendly matches in Marrakech, Morocco. These matches have been organized by NFF’s FIFA Match Agent, Jairo Pachon of Eurodata Sport.
The clash with Ghana’s Black Stars on March 22 will reignite memories of a longstanding rivalry dating back to 1951 when Nigeria defeated Gold Coast 5-0. The two teams last met in a play-off for the FIFA World Cup in 2022, with the Black Stars advancing on away goals.
Nigeria and Mali, both known as Eagles, will also face off in Marrakech. The last friendly between the two teams ended in a goalless draw in 2016. Mali had previously lost to Nigeria in the semi-finals of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
The matches will take place on March 22 and March 26 in Marrakech, Morocco, with Nigeria fielding a squad that includes many players from the Africa Cup of Nations runners-up team. Players like Jamilu Collins, Tyronne Ebuehi, and Cyriel Dessers have been recalled for the upcoming matches.
The squad also includes returning midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and newcomers Nathan Tella and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru. The full list of invited players is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Stanley Nwabali (Chippa United, South Africa), Francis Uzoho (AC Omonia, Cyprus), and Ojo Olorunleke (Enyimba FC)
Defenders: Gabriel Osho, Chidozie Awaziem, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Tyronne Ebuehi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Kenneth Omeruo, Oluwasemilogo Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Jamilu Collins, and Benjamin Tianimu

Forwards: Nathan Tella, Victor Osimhen, Kelechi Iheanacho, Sadiq Umar, Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Cyriel Dessers
The matches promise to be exciting as the Super Eagles look to put on strong performances against two tough opponents. Nigerian football fans can look forward to an entertaining and competitive display from their national team.
