The Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced plans to merge with other political parties in the country to establish a strong front aimed at removing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from power in 2027. Chief Ralphs Nwosu, the National Chairman of the ADC, revealed this strategy during a press conference in Abuja.

Nwosu criticized the APC for its failure to meet the needs of Nigerians and rated the government poorly across all areas. He expressed concerns about the current state of the nation, describing it as distressing and instilling fear in the population.

Instead of engaging in fruitless debates with the government, Nwosu emphasized the importance of developing a new political system and creating a collaborative ecosystem that prioritizes the well-being of the people and the country. He stressed the need for a fresh start and highlighted the importance of unity among political parties to achieve this goal.

A total of 22 political parties have joined forces with the ADC to establish a new mega party. Nwosu emphasized that the goal is to work with all political leaders who recognize the importance of uniting for the betterment of Nigeria. He emphasized that the focus is on building a new Nigeria that can lead the continent out of its current challenges.

He noted that the APC, which ousted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from power in 2015, was the result of a merger of opposition forces. Reflecting on the impact of major opposition parties in previous elections, observers believe that a united opposition could have successfully removed the APC from power.

Prof. Pat Utomi and the ADC have both considered the formation of a mega party to challenge the APC in the 2027 elections. The aim is to create a strong and united front that can effectively address the needs of the Nigerian people and bring about positive change.

Overall, the ADC’s merger with other political parties signals a shift towards greater collaboration and unity within the opposition. The goal is to create a formidable force that can challenge the ruling party and lead Nigeria towards a new and better future. With a focus on inclusivity and progress, the ADC and its allies are working towards building a new political landscape that prioritizes the interests of the Nigerian people.
