The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has received commendations for its continuous efforts in the agricultural sector, particularly in implementing agricultural extension and empowerment programs to support farmers. The Coalition of North-East Youths Alliance expressed their appreciation during a press conference in Abuja, commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for reappointing Goni Alkali as the Managing Director of the NEDC for a second term.

The Coalition highlighted the significant role played by the NEDC in infrastructural growth, human capacity development, and poverty alleviation in the region. They praised the Commission for its efforts in economic development and stability through various strategic initiatives aimed at empowering the youth and women in the North-East.

One of the recent initiatives by the NEDC was a workshop and seminar that trained over 2000 youths in waste management, climate change adaptation, renewable energy, and watershed management. The Commission also provided Ramadan palliatives to the less privileged in the region, benefiting over 600 youth organizations and civil societies.

The Coalition emphasized the importance of supporting the NEDC’s mission to foster sustainable development, reduce poverty, and strengthen economic stability in the North-East. They urged all stakeholders to join hands in ensuring the success of the Commission’s programs and initiatives, working together towards a brighter and more prosperous future for the region.

In light of the Commission’s achievements, the Coalition warned against any attempts to sabotage the progress made in the region. They stressed the importance of rapid development for economic stability and urged all parties to avoid hindering the efforts towards progress.

Overall, the North-East Development Commission has been recognized for its dedication to improving the livelihoods of farmers, empowering the youth and women, and fostering economic stability in the North-East region. The support and collaboration of all stakeholders are essential in ensuring the success of the Commission’s initiatives and building a better future for the North-East.
