The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) recently made a significant bust in zero forest, destroying over three tons of cannabis (Indian Hemp) on a 1.577683-hectare farmland in Oloma-Okpe forest in Akoko Edo Local Government Area. This operation led to the eradication of 3,944.2075 kilograms of cannabis, highlighting the agency’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse.

In addition to this successful operation, NDLEA operatives in Edo State arrested a 50-year-old suspect named Kole Samuel with 75 kilograms of a psychoactive substance in Otuo, Owan East Local Government Area. Another seizure of 24 kilograms of cannabis was made from the driver of a transport company, Ikechukwu Obialo, at Sagamu Interchange, Ogun State.

Further arrests were made in Kano State where two suspects, Ali Amadu (27) and Adamu Hassan (33), were caught with 125.3 kilograms of cannabis, 3,400 tramadol pills, and 30 bottles of codeine syrup. These operations demonstrate NDLEA’s unwavering commitment to curbing drug trafficking and abuse across the country.

Moreover, 118 kilograms of cannabis were recovered from a warehouse in Masaka area of Nasarawa State on Saturday, March 16. This further underscores the agency’s dedication to fighting the drug menace in the country.

Apart from these enforcement efforts, NDLEA also conducted its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign in various parts of the country. This included sensitization lectures for students and teachers at Government Day Secondary School in Michika, Adamawa, Nana Aisha Secondary School in Damaturu, Yobe, Dee Unique International School in Lagos, and Purple Crown Secondary School in Enugu.

NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, commended the officers and men of the agency for intensifying their WADA advocacy lectures. This proactive approach not only helps in curbing drug supply but also addresses the demand side of the issue, especially among students and youths.

In conclusion, NDLEA’s recent operations and advocacy efforts highlight the agency’s commitment to creating a drug-free society. By targeting drug traffickers, conducting raids, and educating communities, NDLEA plays a crucial role in safeguarding the well-being of Nigerians and combating drug abuse in the country.
