The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has been actively combating drug abuse and trafficking in Kaduna State, as evidenced by the recent arrests and seizures made by the agency. In the first quarter of the year, NDLEA Kaduna State Command reported the arrest of 279 suspects and the recovery of 2,092.5kg of illicit substances.
The Commander of NDLEA Kaduna State, Samaila Danmalam, provided this information to the News Agency of Nigeria in Kaduna. He highlighted that the arrests included drug traffickers, dealers, and users, and that the operatives also dismantled 39 illicit drug joints across different locations in the state.
The operations conducted by the NDLEA led to the seizure of various illicit substances, such as cocaine, heroin, cannabis, Tramadol, Methamphetamine, and other psychotropic substances, totaling 2,092.5 kilograms. Additionally, the command secured 48 convictions, arraigned 68 suspects, and charged 34 others during the same period.
Furthermore, Mr. Danmalam mentioned that the command has been actively involved in rehabilitation, counseling, and sensitization programs to educate the public about the dangers associated with drug abuse and trafficking. He emphasized the importance of community support in combating the illicit drug trade and urged citizens to provide relevant and timely information to assist the command in its mission.
