The Defence Headquarters has reported that in the past week, troops have been successful in carrying out various operations nationwide, resulting in the neutralization of 106 terrorists and the arrest of 103 individuals. The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, shared this information in a statement released on Friday in Abuja.

Along with these achievements, the troops also managed to apprehend 22 individuals involved in oil theft and rescued 96 kidnap victims. Additionally, the operations led to the recovery of 171 assorted weapons and 2,452 rounds of ammunition. The recovered weapons included a variety of firearms such as AK47 rifles, pump action rifles, locally fabricated guns, pistols, and more.

In the North East region, Operation Hadin Kai troops neutralized 38 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, rescued 16 kidnap hostages, and recovered a significant amount of arms and ammunition. Furthermore, a total of 46 terrorists surrendered to the troops within the theatre of operations between March 13 and March 19, consisting of eight adult males, 14 adult females, and 24 children.

Moving to the North Central region, troops from Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke eliminated seven violent extremists, apprehended 27 individuals, rescued eight kidnap hostages, and recovered a large cache of weapons. Similarly, in the North West, Operation Hadarin Daji troops neutralized 31 terrorists, arrested 13 others, rescued 56 kidnap hostages, and recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition.

Troops from Operation Whirl Punch also played a crucial role in apprehending nine violent extremists/terrorists and rescuing 19 kidnap victims during the week. In the Niger Delta area, Operation Delta Safe troops discovered and destroyed 40 illegal refining sites along with various equipment used for illegal activities. They also managed to recover a significant amount of stolen crude oil and other illegal substances.

In the South East, troops of Operation UDO KA uncovered and destroyed an IED factory in the Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra. Additionally, troops succeeded in rescuing five kidnap victims in Enugu North Land and recovering a stolen vehicle.

Overall, the operations conducted by the troops across different regions in the country have been successful in combating terrorism, oil theft, and other criminal activities. The dedication and bravery of the troops have led to the neutralization of terrorists, apprehension of criminals, and rescue of numerous individuals in distress. The Defence Headquarters continues to prioritize the safety and security of the nation through proactive military operations.
