The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oyo State is making preparations for the upcoming re-run election in Saki West State Constituency. The election, scheduled for Saturday, will require the use of both non-sensitive and sensitive materials, all of which have been received by the Commission.

The materials, which include ballot papers, result sheets, and replacement forms, were delivered to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Ibadan, specifically the Dugbe area. Tight security surrounded the delivery of these materials, and they were received in the presence of representatives from major political parties, the INEC administrative secretary, Mr. Agboola Razaq, and other stakeholders.

Dr. Rahman Adeniran Tella, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Oyo State, confirmed the arrival of six cartons of materials for the election. Additionally, he revealed that the Commission would utilize two Biometric Voter Authentication System (BVAS) machines, along with two backups, to ensure a smooth and efficient voting process.

Security for the election is also a top priority, as the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Hamzat Adebola, has assured the deployment of 182 police officers to oversee the election. This heightened security presence aims to maintain order and ensure the safety of voters and election officials on the day of the re-run election.

The successful delivery of both non-sensitive and sensitive materials is a crucial step in the preparations for the re-run election. INEC’s careful attention to security and logistics demonstrates their commitment to conducting a fair, transparent, and credible electoral process. With all the necessary materials in place and security measures being implemented, the Commission is working diligently to ensure that the upcoming election in Saki West State Constituency proceeds without any hitches.

As the re-run election draws nearer, the focus will now shift towards the deployment of election officials, the set-up of polling stations, and the training of staff to facilitate the voting process. INEC’s comprehensive preparations are aimed at guaranteeing a successful and democratic electoral exercise that accurately reflects the will of the people in Saki West State Constituency.

By coordinating the delivery and allocation of materials, and by collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure security and oversight, INEC is reinforcing the democratic foundations of Nigeria’s electoral process. The successful execution of the re-run election in Saki West State Constituency will uphold the principles of fair representation and democratic participation, sustaining the integrity of the electoral process and fostering trust in the nation’s democratic institutions.
