The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has announced the launch of a special intervention squad in Kaduna to address the ongoing security challenges in the state. This decision comes in the wake of the abduction of school children in Kuriga, Chikun LGA of Kaduna State, with the aim of ensuring their safe return.

After meeting with Governor Uba Sani at the Government House in Kaduna, Mr. Egbetokun emphasized the need for immediate action. He confirmed that the commanders of the special intervention squad had been trained, with the officers currently undergoing training. The IGP mentioned that the first batch of the special squad would soon complete their training and be deployed to begin their operations.

During his maiden visit to the Police command in Kaduna, the IGP commended the personnel for their dedication and commitment to maintaining security in the state. However, he expressed disapproval of any officers tarnishing the image of the force, urging the commanders to identify and sanction them accordingly. Mr. Egbetokun reiterated his commitment to establishing a people-friendly police force that upholds the rule of law.

Mr. Egbetokun stressed the importance of a Police force that is respected and cherished by the community. He highlighted the impact of positive interactions between law enforcement and the public, noting that when the Police serve the people well, they receive prayers and blessings in return.

Describing the Commissioner of Police in the state as a no-nonsense leader, Mr. Egbetokun encouraged him to maintain discipline within the force. He also urged all personnel to demonstrate selflessness and determination in addressing the security challenges faced by the state.

In response, Commissioner Audu Dabigi acknowledged the significant progress made in combating kidnapping, banditry, and other forms of crime in Kaduna since his tenure began. He expressed gratitude for the IGP’s support and appealed for continued assistance to further enhance their efforts in fighting criminal activities in the state.

Overall, the collaborative efforts of the Police, under the leadership of IGP Egbetokun, and the commendable work of Commissioner Dabigi are crucial in ensuring the safety and security of the people of Kaduna. By prioritizing community engagement, discipline, and proactive measures against criminal elements, law enforcement authorities aim to create a safer environment for all residents. Join us in supporting their endeavors to safeguard the well-being and prosperity of Kaduna State.
