Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State emphasized on Friday that the two commissions of inquiry established by his administration were not intended to target the opposition in the state. Speaking while receiving the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, during the “Hawan Nassarawa” activities at the Government House, Mr. Yusuf clarified that the panels were set up to promote transparency, accountability, and address the issue of political violence in the state.
He reassured that the purpose of the investigations was to bring to justice those involved in political violence, regardless of their political affiliations. The governor highlighted the importance of ending the political violence that has resulted in loss of lives and property destruction to pave the way for economic and political growth in the state.
Governor Yusuf pledged to collaborate with the emirate and acknowledged their contributions and cooperation with the government. He mentioned that since assuming office less than 10 months ago, his administration has been actively campaigning against political thuggery. The governor stressed the significance of youth development for societal progress and outlined ongoing empowerment programs for youths and women to make them self-reliant. He also highlighted the administration’s focus on improving healthcare, education, and infrastructure in the state. Health facilities in the metropolitan and local government areas have been upgraded and equipped with modern facilities for better service delivery. Additionally, the construction of two modern flyovers is underway in the metropolitan area with the goal of positioning Kano as a leading commercial city globally.
Governor Yusuf revealed the establishment of a committee to investigate and recover looted assets and public funds from past administrations. The Emir of Kano, Mr. Bayero, commended the governor’s dedication to implementing impactful developmental projects that enhance the well-being of the populace. He urged parents to monitor their children closely to mitigate social vices and curb political thuggery in the state.
In conclusion, the collaborative efforts between the government and the emirate aim to foster development, security, and prosperity in Kano State. The commitment to transparency, accountability, and youth empowerment reflects the dedication of Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration to steer the state towards progress and sustainable growth.
