Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State recently launched a fleet of modern Refuse Collection Vehicles (RCVs) and 30 motorcycles in an effort to boost waste collection and management in the state. This move comes as part of a new waste clearance initiative called “Operation Nazafa” aimed at improving the cleanliness of Kano metropolis and its surrounding areas.
During the inauguration, Governor Yusuf emphasized his administration’s commitment to maintaining a clean environment and ensuring effective waste management practices. He also made a promise to address the outstanding entitlements of workers at the Kano Refuse Management and Sanitation Board who were affected by the previous administration’s reorganization of the board. The governor directed relevant agencies to compile comprehensive lists of affected workers for prompt action.
Governor Yusuf commended the managing director of the Board, Ahmadu Dan-Zago, and the engineers for their efforts in refurbishing the fleet of vehicles through efficient resource utilization. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance waste clearance and management in the state.
