Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has pledged to bring back all the students abducted by bandits in Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area of the state on Thursday. The governor made the pledge during his visit to the community to offer his condolences over the incident. He mentioned that the exact number of students kidnapped has not been confirmed yet, but the government is collaborating with the school authorities and the community to determine the actual number.

Governor Sani assured the community that he has received support from President Bola Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to ensure the safe return of the abducted students. He encouraged the community members to remain hopeful and cooperate with the government to secure the release of the children and enhance security in the area. The governor specifically appealed to the parents of the abducted children to be patient, assuring them that the government is committed to bringing their children back.

Expressing his sorrow over the incident, Governor Sani stated that he is determined to reunite the primary and secondary school students with their families. He was briefed by the District Head, Lawal Abdullahi, on the situation at LEA Primary and Secondary School in Kuriga, where a brave vigilante member lost his life while confronting the bandits.

Both the President and NSA have given strong assurances that all necessary measures are being taken to rescue the abducted students. Governor Sani announced the establishment of a Security Committee in Kuriga, comprising key stakeholders from the community, security agencies, and the state government. He also mentioned plans to advocate for the setting up of a Military Base in Kuriga to bolster security in the area.

In a later statement, the governor emphasized the need for state police, citing the Kuriga incident as an example. He highlighted the benefits of having a State Police force that is familiar with the local terrain, people, and issues. State Police would have the authority to carry arms, unlike vigilante groups, thereby increasing their effectiveness in combating criminal activities.

Overall, Governor Uba Sani is committed to ensuring the safe return of the abducted students and improving security measures in Kuriga. With the support of the community, government agencies, and key stakeholders, efforts are being made to address the situation and bring peace to the affected area.
