Plateau Governor, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, lamented the tragic loss of the All Progressives Congress (APC) spokesperson, late Sylvanus Namang, as he affirmed the profound impact Namang’s untimely death has had on Plateau, Nigeria, and beyond. Namang, a distinguished individual who served as General Manager of the Plateau Publishing Company and former Zonal Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), met a tragic end when he was fatally shot by gunmen in Pankshin on February 25th, 2024.

During the funeral service held at COCIN, Gigiring, Governor Mutfwang paid heartfelt tribute to Namang, highlighting the deceased’s peace-loving nature and dedication to serving God and humanity. He called upon the people of Plateau State to emulate Namang’s virtuous character, eschewing violence and hatred in their dealings.

Governor Mutfwang stressed the need for a thorough investigation into Namang’s senseless death, ensuring that the perpetrators of this heinous crime face justice. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to eradicating insecurity and lawlessness in Plateau State, collaborating with security agencies to swiftly apprehend and prosecute the culprits. Under his leadership, wrongdoers will face the full weight of the law, finding no refuge within Plateau State’s borders.

Emphasizing the importance of avoiding the politicization of Namang’s death, Governor Mutfwang called for comfort and solace to be extended to the grieving family, emphasizing that true solace can only come from God. Namang’s absence has left a void that may prove challenging to fill, and the Governor prayed for divine comfort for Namang’s immediate family, the Mwaghavul nation, and the entirety of Plateau State.

Furthermore, Governor Mutfwang also expressed sorrow over the recent tragic loss of former House of Assembly Member, Hon. Sunday Malo Muchen, who fell victim to violence in Bokkos Local Government Area. Tributes poured in from various quarters, including former Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, the late Namang’s wife and family, as well as organizations such as the Keffi Old Boys Association, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Boys Brigade Nigeria, APC Plateau State, Mwaghavul Development Association, University of Jos Alumni, and the representative of Mishkaham Mwaghavul. Each tribute hailed Namang as a man of integrity who held a deep reverence for God in all his interactions, while also echoing calls for justice and peace in the state.

In conclusion, the demise of Sylvanus Namang stands as a solemn reminder of the fragility of life and the pressing need for unity, justice, and peace. Governor Mutfwang’s resolute stance against insecurity and lawlessness underscores his commitment to upholding the rule of law in Plateau State, ensuring that the memory of Namang and other fallen heroes lives on through a legacy of righteousness and justice.
