Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara recently reiterated his administration’s dedication to significant infrastructural developments within the state. The governor made this commitment during a meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) and Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) in Gusau.
The discussions at the meeting revolved around various issues, including the construction of vehicle transit areas and traffic management in the capital city of Zamfara. Suleiman Idris, the governor’s spokesperson, stated that the establishment of vehicle transit areas would enhance traffic flow and alleviate congestion as part of the ongoing urban renewal project.
Idris further elaborated that the designated vehicle transit areas would be set up along two state axes to enhance transportation infrastructure. The governor disclosed plans to construct trailer parks at two entrances to Gusau – one on the Funtua to Gusau road and the other on the Sokoto to Gusau road. NARTO and PTD members were invited to participate in the committee responsible for establishing these vehicle transit areas.
A comprehensive assessment of potential locations would be conducted to determine the most suitable sites for the trailer park constructions. Factors such as accessibility, demand, and available resources would be taken into consideration to ensure that the parks contribute to the state government’s revenue and offer a pleasant experience for visitors.
During the meeting, Mustapha Sarkin Kagara, the chairman of the Zamfara state chapter of NARTO, reassured the governor of their full cooperation with the initiative. Kagara emphasized that both NARTO and PTD would support the government in establishing the proposed trailer parks.
He expressed gratitude for the invitation to discuss such a pivotal matter concerning their work and pledged maximum cooperation to facilitate the establishment of vehicle transit areas or trailer parks. Kagara highlighted the positive impact of the project, projecting the creation of over 5000 job opportunities for the people of Zamfara.
In conclusion, Governor Lawal’s commitment to infrastructural development in Zamfara, particularly in the transportation sector, is evident through the proactive measures being taken to enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion. The collaborative efforts between the state government, NARTO, and PTD signify a positive step towards improving transportation infrastructure and creating employment opportunities within the state. The establishment of vehicle transit areas and trailer parks is poised to have a significant impact on the overall development and economic growth of Zamfara.
